Zurich committed to local basketball development | Sole Sponsor of “Fun Day Children’s Basketball Camp” and Title Sponsor of “Zurich Hong Kong Inter-School 3X3 Basketball Competition”

Hong Kong, April 4, 2021 – Solely sponsored by Zurich Insurance (Hong Kong) (“Zurich”), the “Fun Day Children’s Basketball Camp” was successfully held today at Southorn Stadium, Wan Chai. More than 40 children of grassroot families invited by the non-profit social service organization, Hong Kong Playground Association, enjoyed a variety of structured basketball activities. Led by professional basketball coaches and the Zurich Volunteer Team, the participants were in for a special treat this Children’s Day, where the camp provided a fun and welcoming environment to experience the joy of basketball.

Zurich understands that sports is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. However, the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing have meant that many children lacked sporting activities in the past year or so, and may have experienced worrying impact to their physical and mental wellbeing. The power of sports is not limited to physical health, but extends to cultivation of team spirit, tolerance and empathy, and awareness towards lifelong learning and continuous improvement. Through this sponsorship, Zurich hopes to have helped nurture a passion in sports amongst the participating children, as well as the mindset of sportsmanship. Zurich is also proud of the collaboration with the social service organization, for the betterment of our society and to advocate the benefits of regular exercise.

Zurich is also the Title Sponsor of the “Zurich Hong Kong Inter-School 3X3 Basketball Competition” (“Competition”), which commenced on April 2 at Southorn Stadium, Wan Chai—the first inter-school basketball competition in over a year, and provides a center stage for elite student basketball players to put their skills on display before the school year draws to a close. The Competition is opened to 56 secondary school teams and 32 primary school teams, with more than 350 players fiercely competing for the grand prize in over 150 games. The champion team will be crowned on April 6, and the exciting showdown is expected to amaze audience during the live stream. And to show full support to the Competition, Zurich has sponsored all players with personal accident protection, so that they can play their best with peace of mind.
