Zurich named Distinguished Family-Friendly Employer for the second time

Zurich’s family-friendly spirit, employment practices and policies have once again earned us the “Distinguished Family-Friendly Employer Award” (Corporate Category) in the Family-Friendly Award Scheme 2015/2016. We have also received the newly added category “Breastfeeding Support Award” and “Special Mention Award” in recognition of our continuous efforts in promoting family harmony.

Held on October 25, 2016 at the Kowloon Bay International Trade & Exhibition Centre, the award presentation ceremony was officiated by Mrs. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, GBS, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR Government. Our Head of HR Andy Wong attended the ceremony and received the awards on behalf of Zurich from Mrs. Lam.

This biennial award scheme was first launched in 2011 by the Family Council, an advisory body to the HKSAR government, aiming to raise awareness of the employers of the importance of family core values, and to foster a pro-family culture and environment. This year, 2,555 corporations, SMEs and organizations participated in the scheme, among which 43 corporations are awarded the Distinguished Awards.

At Zurich, we understand that the well-being of our people is one of the important factors for business performance and loyalty. As a responsible corporate citizen, Zurich in Hong Kong has been continuously looking for ways to enhance our policies and measures to promote work-life balance and show our care to the employees and their families. For example, we launched a new staff medical plan with an extended cover on maternity medical expenses earlier in January this year and installed a new fridge in the mother’s room. All these are strong testimonials to our commitment to caring for our people.
