1 Smart device shall mean Electronic Communication Products (include smartphones and earphones) / laptops and tablet computers
2 Maximum 2 reimbursements per policy year. The device must be repaired in one of the authorized repair centers of the respective manufacturer in Hong Kong. Zurich will grant maximum one (1) additional reimbursement as stated in above when You used the recycling service of home electric appliances, desktop computers, laptop computers or Electronic Communication Products by Zurich’s recognized or designated service provider in policy year.

Am I eligible for buying home insurance if I do not own the property?
Yes, you are. HomeChoice Insurance Plan (Householder Insurance) provides protection to the householders and their household members on home contents and legal liability even when the householders do not own the property.

I am a tenant. Do I still have to buy a home insurance plan if my landlord has already bought one?
Liability owed by landlords and householders can differ. As a householder, you need to take out a home insurance for all-round home contents protection and other extended coverage such as personal possessions; whereas for landlords, the core protection will lie within legal liability and loss of rent compensation.
Therefore, we recommend both landlords and householders to take out a home insurance for their best interests.

What items are classified as home contents?Examples of home contents are furniture, fixtures, fittings, household goods, laptop computers, etc. which belong to you and/or a member of the household with exclusions. Please refer to Part I – Definitions of the policy wording for details of the definition and the exclusion of home contents. -
What is the difference between home contents and home structure?
Home contents refer to furniture, fixtures, household goods, personal effects, desktop computers, laptop computers, valuables, interior decorations, etc. which belong to you and/or a member of your household. Home structure, on the other hand, refers to walls, floors, pipes, etc. For detailed definitions, please refer to the policy wording.
Under HomeChoice’s basic coverage, it provides protection on home contents. For all-rounded home protection, you are recommended to add the building optional coverage.

When do I need to top up my home insurance with worldwide coverage on personal possessions?
Under the basic coverage of HomeChoice Insurance Plan (Householder Insurance), your personal belongings are covered when the lost or damage* happen in Hong Kong. If you would like to extend the coverage to outside Hong Kong, you will need to top up with the optional coverage - worldwide personal possessions.
*Provided that such loss in respect of theft or accidental loss/disappearance is reported to the local police within 24 hours of discovery.

What are the extra benefits of HomeChoice Insurance Plan?HomeChoice covers not only accidents occurred at home, but also accidents occurred and third-party liability incurred outside home. For example, should your tablet computer be accidentally damaged at a café, the plan will cover the repair cost of your device*. Or in a situation where your pet accidentally cause damage to your neighbor’s home contents, the plan will cover your compensation expenses under legal liability coverage with up to HKD 10,000,000.
