Sustainable operations

As a responsible insurer, it is important for Zurich to take accountability for the impact our operations have on the environment. Zurich is taking steps to reduce carbon emissions from its own operations to help mitigate climate change, reduce energy consumption, and conserve valuable natural resources. At Zurich Hong Kong, we take pledge to protect our environments through below initiatives:

• Paris Agreement – pledged to limit the average global temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels
• RE100 initiative – achieved RE100 status of consuming 100% renewable electricity
• UN-convened Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance (NZAOA) – committed to accelerating the transition to net-zero emissions economy alongside global insurers and re-insurers
• Zurich Forest – pledged to replant one million seedlings in supporting the growth of healthy native forest
• PaperLess Future Campaign – addressing a global paperless mindset within the workplace

At Zurich, we care about our customers as well as our environment. We are dedicated to providing sustainable, eco-friendly services while protecting our customers through diversified insurance products. Apart from online application platform, we also provide e-Claims and e-Policy services to better serve our customers.

We have partnered with Tree-Nation and our aim is to provide the environment with the same protection we provide to our customers.

From November 2019 to January 2020, we planted one tree for each insurance policy enrolled online via www.zurich.com.hk and issued. We send eligible customers an email within one month upon policy issuance for registration at Tree Nation. If customers register with Tree Nation, they are able to download a tree certificate which gives the location and species of the tree we planted for them.
